Tino Livramento stretchered off with serious-looking knee injury

Brighton lead messages of well-wishes as Tino Livramento stretched off with serious-looking knee injury

Well-wishes have poured in across social media on Sunday, after Southampton star Tino Livramento was forced out of the club’s meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion with what could well prove to be a long-term injury.

The incident in question was forthcoming late in the first-half of action at the Amex.

As Southampton’s gifted right-back stepped into a position to challenge Enock Mwepu, he suddenly went to ground, without any opposing contact.

The seriousness of the situation, in turn, quickly became clear, as Livramento writhed in pain on the turf, whilst concern spread across the faces of both sets of players.

It therefore came as little surprise when the former Chelsea man was ultimately loaded onto a stretcher, before being carried from the field of play amid concerns of a potential ACL tear.

Both manager Ralph Hasenhuttl and teammate Armando Broja were subsequently spotted attempting to console Livramento on his way down the tunnel, with the young defender in evident distress.

Messages of well-wishes, as a result, have since flooded in across social media, headed by Southampton’s hosts this afternoon:

JWP does it again

Turning attentions back towards the action itself on the south coast, it is hosts Brighton who currently boast the advantage when it comes to the scoreline.

After Danny Welbeck opened the scoring inside two minutes, an own goal on the part of Mohammed Salisu looked set to see the Seagulls cruise into the break two goals to the good.

A trademark James Ward-Prowse free-kick, however, handed Southampton a lifeline on the stroke of the half-time whistle, setting the stage for a competitive 45 minutes to come.
