Summary of the Europa League quarterfinals
The Europa League quarter-finals produced some very interesting, exciting and high-intensity matchups.

Surprise of the round: Eintracht Frankfurt eliminates Barcelona
Of all the quarter-final ties, Barcelona vs Eintracht Frankfurt seemed the easiest to predict.
Barcelona have transformed under Xavi Hernandez and their new form has taken them from a potential Europa League spot to second place in La Liga.
Meanwhile, Frankfurt languished in the middle of the Bundesliga table, conceding goals for fun. As a result, almost everyone expected Barcelona to easily overtake the German team. However, it was Frankfurt who advanced to the semi-finals with an aggregate score of 4-3.

The second leg between Barcelona and Frankfurt had absolutely everything; late drama that saw Xavi and company. predict a comeback, an expulsion, high-octane football and some simply spectacular goals from both teams on the day.

We return once again to Barcelona’s tie with Frankfurt, as in both games, both teams produced some simply sensational goals.
Ansgar Knauff’s opening goal in the first leg is worth mentioning, as is Rafael Borre’s strike for the German powerhouse in the second leg.
However, it was Sergio Busquets’ long-distance shot in 91St. minute of the second match that could be said to have been the goal of the round.
