Review: Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel

i stayed in the Marriott hotel in Montreal airport terminal flying into Montreal ahead of our Prince of Travel Signature Event a few weekends ago.

Marriott Hotel at Montreal Airport Terminal – Reservation

I decided to book a night here at the Marriott precisely because it was directly connected to the airport terminal.

I had a lot of luggage with me and as I was arriving late at night I just needed a place to sleep before heading into town the next morning.

Given the convenience of being connected to the airport, room rates are priced higher, starting at around $250 for a standard room.

Meanwhile, a points redemption would cost in the region of 30,000 bonus points. We currently value Bonvoy points at 0.9 cents each, so paying cash was marginally the best option.

Marriott Hotel at Montreal Airport Terminal – Location

The hotel is located at the other end of the airport terminal, closest to the US departures area.

Downtown Montreal is approximately a 20-minute drive from the hotel, or is accessible by public transportation via the 747 bus service, which takes you to the Lionel-Groulx station on the Montreal Metro.

You’d most likely only choose to stay here if you had an overnight layover or an early morning flight out of Montreal, so as the name suggests, it’s very much the hotel’s location in the terminal that serves as your greatest asset.

Marriott Hotel at Montreal Airport Terminal: Check-in

The hotel has an exterior and interior entrance, the first one allows you to leave cars and the second one leads to the airport concourse.

Escalators and elevators lead to the check-in area, which means you can take your luggage carts to the lobby if you need to.

A friendly associate welcomed me and confirmed my overnight stay, offering me the keys to my suite on the seventh floor.

The associate was also more than happy to store a couple of pieces of luggage I didn’t need for the night, taking my entire luggage cart and placing it behind the desk.

Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel – Larger Suite

I was assigned room 742, a larger suite than the rooms shown on the hotel’s website. The space was certainly more than I needed for the night, but I really appreciated the extra square footage.

Upon entering the room you will find the foyer with a pantry on the left hand side stocked with coffee and tea. The foyer then opens up to a living/sleeping area, separated by a wall.

The room featured floor-to-ceiling soundproof windows to eliminate airport noise, with a view of the parking lot and runways in the distance.

The contemporary color palette includes light grays, beiges, and soft blues, with dark wood furnishings.

I appreciated the separate workspace and desk, and found the chair to be ergonomic and comfortable.

The layout of the room also featured three extra chairs in front of the desk and chair, which didn’t make much sense to me, but wasn’t necessarily important here in a passing airport hotel.

A sitting room with a small sofa is located at the opposite end of this room.

The bedroom was minimalist with just a TV facing the bed and some art on the wall. The nightstands feature an alarm clock with built-in Bluetooth speakers and USB outlets for convenient charging.

Beds at the Montreal Airport Marriott are outfitted with Revive Collection bedding, which I found quite comfortable during my quick night.

The bathroom in this suite is quite spacious and features a shower/tub combination, a single sink vanity with LED mirror, and the toilet.

I found the suite to be more than helpful for my needs, which were simply having a comfortable place to spend the night if I was late in town.

Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel – Executive Lounge

As a Marriott Titanium Elite member with Marriott, I was able to take advantage of the Executive Lounge located on the 10th floor. The lounge has views of the airport runway and a variety of indoor seating.

Upon entering, an associate greets you and verifies your room number. The lounge offers refreshments throughout the day and breakfast is served in the morning.

Breakfast was very simple, with a hot dish, some cold dishes, some fruit and pastries, and a selection of coffee: drip, cappuccino and latte.

The selection was quite limited, and I was disappointed that the only hot breakfast item was scrambled eggs with mushrooms, which I don’t eat.

Still, it was better than nothing, and I ate some cold dishes and small cakes before going on with my day.

Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel – Other Facilities

Many hotels offer amenities and services on a multi-level property, while the Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel has them spread out on the same floor.

Bijou restaurant and bar, reception, lobby, meeting rooms and conference spaces are located on the fourth floor.

Meanwhile, the pool and gym are located on the eighth floor. The pool and hot tub in particular looked pretty well-appointed for an airport hotel, which is a place people don’t usually go to spend too much time in the pool.

The hotel’s fitness center is open 24 hours and offers a variety of exercise equipment, including cardio machines, free weights, and strength equipment.

Again, I found the facility to be quite nice for an airport hotel, with the treadmills offering a very nice view of the airport runways.

If you find yourself with a series of delayed flights during a winter storm in Montreal, at least you’ll have some nice amenities to enjoy at the Marriott In-Terminal Hotel next door.

conclusion

This in-terminal Marriott is a well-rounded property with modern interiors and comfortable beds for those whose travels pass through Montreal International Airport.

The hotel’s biggest asset is its excellent location in the terminal, which came in handy on a night arrival when I had a lot of luggage with me, as I could simply take my luggage cart straight to the hotel lobby and store it overnight.

In addition, the hotel offers a variety of services for all types of travelers, such as a swimming pool and Jacuzzi for those looking to relax and an intimate executive lounge for the enjoyment of elite members.

Leaving in the morning after a quick overnight stay, I reflected on a lovely stay at the Marriott YUL, and will probably return again in the future just for the convenience factor.
