Nancy Meyers to Write, Direct, and Produce a New Netflix Film

Today it was announced that the Academy Award nominee and prolific romantic comedy filmmaker nancy meyers has signed on to write, direct and produce a new feature film for streaming platform Netflix. According to reports from Deadline, the still untitled film will be an ensemble comedy.

This film will actually be the second collaboration between Meyers and the streamer. In 2020, they paired up to make Father of the Bride Part 3 (sort of)a short film continuation of the films father of the bride and Father of the Bride Part II, which Meyers originally wrote. The short film reunited the casts of the first two films Steve Martin, Diana Keaton, short martin, Kimberly Williams – Paisley, George Newbernand kieran culkin, and brought some new faces with Florence Pugh, Ben Platt, Alexandra Shippand robert deniroto benefit World Central Kitchen.


This Netflix movie will be the first time Meyers has worked on a movie in years. The last time he was in the director’s chair was in 2015. the internstarring Anne Hathaway and DeNiro. It was also the last feature film she wrote for. However, she was back in the producing chair a couple of years later for 2017. at home again starring Reese witherspoon. But outside of those two movies, Meyers hasn’t worked on anything in recent years except the one mentioned above. Father of the Bride Part 3 (sort of) and a Walmart commercial that featured film composer Hans Zimmer.

Meyers’ feature film writing debut came in the form of benjamin soldierthe Goldie Hawn film that saw a socialite join the US Army, and earned her an Academy Award nomination for writing. Since then, Meyers has had a career writing several beloved films. Meyers wrote both father of the bride, The parent trap starring remake Lindsay Lohanand Someone has to concede which gave Keaton his most recent Academy Award nomination.

Meyers made her directorial debut with the aforementioned The parent trap Redo. Since then, he has directed several films, many of which he also wrote. Her other previous credits as a director include films such as Someone has to concede, The holidaysand It’s complicated.

Outside of Meyers’ connection to the new Netflix movie, not much else is known about the project. No title, plot description, cast, or planned release date for the film has been announced. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates on this upcoming project!
