The third and final season of derry girls debuted on April 12, and the first episode had an exciting surprise for viewers of the show. Northern Irish Actor, Liam NeesonHe made an unexpected cameo on the show, playing a very deadpan Police Chief Byers.
derry girls follows five Northern Irish teenagers in the 1990s, towards the end of the Northern Ireland conflict, through their exploits and many misadventures in Derry. The five friends often find themselves in absurd and crazy situations, as was the case when they met Neeson’s character. He introduces himself to Police Chief Byers when he questions the girls after they try to get into his school to find out their GCSE results. As these things go, they inadvertently help a couple of thieves organize a computer equipment theft in the process, leading to their arrest.
Without giving away too much, the whole scene perfectly sums up why derry girls comedy brand has been a success. A highlight of the nearly four-minute clip sees Neeson’s character go toe-to-toe with Saoirse-Monica JacksonErin Quinn’s character, and she loses. However, she was Kevin McAleerColm McCool’s That Proved Too Much For Police Chief Byers.
Neeson’s appearance on the show was met with surprise and delight from fans. Although he is primarily known for his dramatic and action roles, the actor has taken on various comedic roles in the past. Neeson has previously had comedic turns in A Million Ways to Die in the West, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, Y Ted 2. However, he is widely known for his roles in the Taken franchise, Without scales, the Star Wars franchise, Batman Begins, Y schindler’s list, for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.
After a break of three years, derry girls The return to the small screen was received positively.
