Leeds talent Summerville stakes first-team claim with U23s hat-trick

Images of Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville showing off his goalscoring talents during a game with the club’s U23 side caught the attention of the Whites’ fans on Monday night.

Regular Leeds viewers will, of course, be familiar with the name of the young Summerville.

This comes as now former manager Marcelo Bielsa handed the Dutch youth international a regular place in the club’s first-team setup, on his way to eight appearances in the first half of the campaign.

And now, as mentioned above, a series of videos showing precisely why Bielsa held Summerville in such high regard, have surfaced online.

The talented attacker was used early on tonight, as Leeds’ Under-23 side welcomed their Crystal Palace counterparts to Elland Road for a Premier League 2 clash.

Andrew Taylor’s hosts headed into proceedings no doubt desperate for the top three, sitting third from the bottom of the PL2 table with just six wins to their name all season.

However, on Monday night, Leeds’ latest crop of emerging talent provided a reminder of their true abilities.

A fine display eventually culminated in the Yorkshire side emerging on the right side of a 4-0 scoreline, to overtake both Blackburn and Everton in tenth place.

And, as mentioned above, it was that Summerville man who stole the show.

The 20-year-old scored both the first and second goals thanks to sumptuous bent shots with both feet, before capping off a wonderful individual performance with a hat-trick late in the third game.

Harrison’s punch is not enough

The return of Leeds’ Under-23s to winning ways, of course, comes on the heels of the club’s absolute stars who saw Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Southampton end their rare run of successive Premier League wins during weekend.

A meeting at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon saw Jack Harrison’s first goal just before the half-hour mark disallowed by James Ward-Prowse early in the second half, as the Southampton captain made sure the visitors return to the south coast with a share of the spoils courtesy of another impressive free kick:
