Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Dončić, Pau Gasol, Dirk Nowitzki and Tony Parker named to All-Time NBA European First Team as part of NBA 75 Euro Vote

LONDONApril 11, 2022 – The National Basketball Association (NBA) today announced the results of the NBA All-Time European Team category as part of the NBA 75 Euro Vote, a campaign to celebrate the league’s milestone 75th.the Anniversary season with fans in Europe and commemorate the contributions of European players throughout the league’s 75-year history.

The NBA’s all-time first European team consists of two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks; Greece), three-time NBA All-Star Luka Dončić (Dallas Mavericks; Slovenia), two times NBA champion Pau Gasol (Spain), NBA champion and MVP Dirk Nowitzki (Germany), and four-time NBA champion Tony Parker (France). Nowitzki, who played for the Mavericks for his entire 21-year career and is currently the NBA’s sixth all-time leading scorer, led all vote-getters.

The All-Time Second European Team in the NBA consists of reigning NBA MVP Nikola Jokić (Denver Nuggets; Serbia), Hall of Famers Toni Kukoć (Croatia) and Arvydas Sabonis (Lithuania), the champion of the NBA Peja Stojaković (Serbia) and the late Drazen Petrović (Croatia).

The All-NBA European First and Second Teams were selected by fans in Europe and a blue ribbon panel of more than 40 European media, broadcasters, influencers and celebrities. The fan vote made up 50 percent of the final results, while the panel made up the other 50 percent.

“European players past and present have had an indelible impact on the NBA and the game of basketball,” said George Aivazoglou, director of Fan Engagement and Direct-to-Consumer for the NBA in Europe and the Middle East. “As we celebrate our milestone 75the Anniversary season, it is fitting to recognize and honor the greatest European players of all time, all of whom have inspired generations of players and fans across the continent and around the world.”

In previous NBA 75 Euro Vote categories, the 1995-98 Chicago Bulls were named the All-Time NBA Dynasty, the 1998-99 Toronto Raptors away jersey won the All-Time NBA Jersey and Nowitzki won an NBA championship after leading the Mavericks. from a 2-1 deficit in the 2011 NBA Finals was voted the European Moment of All Time.
