From Silicon Valley to Silicon Slopes: TripActions Expands to Salt Lake City

TripActions’ global office footprint will grow by one this April when the company opens its newest location in Salt Lake City. It will be the fifteenth office started by the TripActions core team and the seventh in the US after Palo Alto, San Francisco, Dallas, Austin, Seattle and New York.

Utah’s capital city is quickly becoming a premier hub for business and technical innovation, making it an ideal location as TripActions expands its team and leadership in the travel, corporate card and expense management industries.

The TripActions Salt Lake City team will begin hiring for sales and customer success roles, and is expected to hire at least 40 new members in the coming months. TripActions currently has more than 2,200 employees in 64 offices (wholly owned and partner) serving 8,800 customers in 94 countries, with plans to continue growing and scaling this year.

Leading the opening of the new office is Matt Mogle, Director of Global Launch in the Customer Success team and current SLC resident.

Matt joined TripActions in March 2019 as Manager of Enterprise Customer Success and has been at the forefront of the company’s success for the past three years. He values the meritocratic culture that TripActions embodies and has received three promotions in the last 15 months, rising from a senior CSM to a manager to a director role building a global customer success team.

On what brought Matt to TripActions…

“I’m originally from Alabama, where I wanted to get into technology, so I started in a sales position there before getting my first job in San Francisco. Ten months later, our team at that company was shut down by our parent operation. I took that development as an opportunity to think about what I really wanted to do next. I always had a passion for travel, my mother was a flight attendant and my father worked in the hospitality industry, but I never thought I would be able to combine my personal passion for the travel industry while staying professionally in technology.

I felt connected to TripActions’ vision from the beginning and truly believe it has the potential to become a world-renowned household name. This business is something that can affect every country in the world and joining a company with that kind of reach is incredibly exciting and challenging. I feel blessed and proud to be part of our growth.”

On what Matt is most excited about for the future of TripActions…

“I love the recent acquisitions we’ve had in EMEA, three in eight months, which is outstanding.

We are experiencing record travel bookings today and across the company we are taking the travel, corporate card and expense management industry to the next level.”

(TripActions acquired Swedish corporate travel agency Resia, German travel management company Comtravo, and UK-based travel and events service Reed & Mackay between May 2021 and February 2022. The company also launched a new partnership with Lufthansa Group and expanded TripActions Liquid, its fintech-driven corporate card and expense management solution, across the UK and Eurozone.)

On her favorite part of living in SLC…

“I moved with my wife from the Bay Area to SLC during the pandemic. There are so many great activities the area has to offer: incredible skiing, national parks, kayaking, mountain biking, and more. It is a playground for lovers of the outdoors. There are professional sports teams to watch and an international airport, making domestic and international travel easy. In general, I think SLC has great energy. Now is the right time to open a TripActions office in SLC.

If you want to progress in your career and take on new challenges, this is the place for you!”
