News emerging from the English media on Monday suggests that Arsenal will imminently revive the club’s search for Wolverhampton Wanderers star Ruben Neves.
Portuguese international Neves, of course, was tipped well to move to North London during the January transfer window.
In the end, however, despite Arsenal’s desperate need for midfield reinforcements (a deficiency that was brought to the fore once again last weekend), a deal could not be reached.
However, if the latest speculation that has surfaced throughout the day is anything to go by, then Mikel Arteta and company. Evidently they still haven’t given up hope of landing the 25-year-old.
According to a report from Sky Sports News, the Gunners have set their sights on Neves once again ahead of the summer transfer window.
The former Porto player is labeled one of the club’s ‘top transfer targets’ as the Emirates transfer team looks for a long-term partner for Thomas Partey.
Wolves, for their part, remain hopeful of linking their midfield driver to new terms at the Midlands, though they add that a £50-60m price tag has been slapped on Neves’ head.

The seagulls win
News of Arsenal’s renewed interest in signing Neves, of course, comes just 48 hours after the club’s lack of depth in the middle of the park, as mentioned above, being ruthlessly exposed once again.
After welcoming out-of-shape Brighton & Hove Albion to the Emirates for a crucial outing amid their ongoing quest for a Premier League top-4 spot, the Gunners were put to the sword in a manner worrying, by two goals to one.
This came with youngster Sambi Lokonga thrown back into the deep end, forced to occupy Arsenal’s midfield base on his own, amid the absence of sidelined Thomas Partey, and Granit Xhaka’s surprise move to left-back.
Brighton, in turn, went on to dominate midfield for long stretches of the 90 minutes, ultimately proving key to their surge from North London with all three points.
