Antonio Conte issues Tottenham injury update ahead of Aston Villa clash

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has revealed that while both Ryan Sessengnon and Sergio Reguilon are fit again for the weekend’s trip to Aston Villa, midfielder Oliver Skipp remains sidelined for the foreseeable future.

Spurs have achieved good form in recent weeks that has seen them overtake north London rivals Arsenal to fourth place in the Premier League, although they have played one more game than the Gunners so far.

And despite Antonio Conte suggesting his side needed a “miracle” to finish fourth, they’ll know that if they beat the Gunners in the rescheduled North London Derby on May 12, they’ll have a real shot at reclaiming the place, and once again a place in the Champions League.

However, they still need to win and face a tricky trip to Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa, themselves on a three-match losing streak, at the weekend.

And while they will be bolstered by the return of options at left back, where Matt Doherty had filled in, Skipp’s absence still looms.

‘No new injuries’, Conte confirmed to the press, and ‘two good news because Ryan Sessegnon and Sergio Reguilon had the training with us. About Oliver Skipp, we have to wait. It’s not ready, it’s not ready yet and we need to be patient with it and fix this problem.

Skip the season?

Despite speculation to the contrary, Conte criticized the idea of Skipp being forced to miss the rest of the season due to the injury he suffered in January. The 21-year-old midfielder was forced to retire during the 2-0 Premier League defeat to Chelsea and has not played since.

However, Conte stated that he will return before the end of the season. when asked by the media.

‘Absolutely not [out for the season]’, answered. “We have to get it back for this season, that has to be the goal. It is important that the player feels this possibility of recovering, also because we need him and we trust him’.

If Tottenham continue to perform as they have, they may find it difficult to win back their place in Antonio Conte’s side.
