Al-Jazira vs Mumbai City FC twitter reactions

Ali Mabkhout’s first-half penalty was enough to earn Al Jazeera a crucial three points in a 1-0 win over Mumbai City FC in Group B of the 2022 AFC Champions League on Thursday.

The Islanders spent most of their time defending and trying to get ahead on counterattacks.

Des Buckingham’s side suffered an early injury as their defender Amey Ranawade was replaced by Methab Singh after nine minutes of play.

Al-Jazira’s first chance of the match came in the 18th minute, when Abdulla Ramadan sent a cross to Bruno, who was saved by goalkeeper Mohammad Nawaz.

Five minutes before the break, Mumbai City FC conceded a penalty after Abdoulaye Diaby’s shot hit Mehtab Singh’s hand inside the area.

Al Mabkhout made no mistake from the penalty spot to give Al-Jazira a lead before the break.

The second half began with Mumbai City FC trying to probe further and their efforts almost reaped the reward when Mourtada Fall attempted a Chhangte header just before the hour mark that ended up hitting the crossbar before going offside.

Al-Jazira were compact for the last 25 minutes and it was only in the 87th minute that the Indian Super League team almost tied the game when Rahul Bheke attempted a shot from distance that hit the crossbar in the game’s exit.
